Meet our Board

Our dedicated Board members serve in a voluntary capacity and come from a variety of diverse professional backgrounds.  Their responsibilities include setting the strategic direction for our Organisation, reviewing operational performance against set targets, establishing an annual financial budget and supporting the CEO in the leadership of the day to day operations of the Organisation. 

Board members are selected based on their skill set, diversity, integrity and character, and help to set the tone and culture of the Foundation as a whole.

Our Purpose is, and has always been, restoring lives in need.

Board Chair | Annette Latto

Annette has been a trusted member of the Esther Foundation Board since 2015, and has demonstrated a passionate dedication to the transformation of the Organisation during a season of intense growth and change.

Board Chair Annette Latto BSc

Annette Latto holds a Bachelor of Science from Murdoch University and brings a wealth of experience to the organisation’s Board of Management with over 20 years in the field of Environmental Management.  Annette is an Associate with Strategy-JBS&G Environmental Consultancy and has experience in government approvals, policy development and compliance management, within both Government and industry including Boral Resources, Chevron and BHP Nickel West. 

Annette and her husband have three adult children and have been involved with a number of Churches and Ministries over many years.

Deputy Board Chair | Dr. Jeroen Bruins

Since 2013, Jeroen has been the Chair of the Board of PeaceWise, a not-for-profit ministry that provides Christian solutions to conflict, which has given him a wealth of knowledge and experience in the areas of governance, spiritual leadership and strategic direction. Jeroen is an accredited Christian Conciliator and joined the the Esther Foundation Board in December 2019.

Jeroen has a professional background in the oil and gas industry. Whilst calling Australia home for many years, he has also lived and worked in the U.K. Oman, Nigeria.

Jeroen has been married to Eva for over 40 years. They enjoy three adult children, their spouses and six grandchildren. His passions and giftings are in the area of prayer, spiritual direction and Biblical Peacemaking, which have enabled him to be involved with a variety of ministries.

Board Treasurer | Lindsey Phillips

Lindsey is a member of the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA) and Association of Change Management Professionals (ACMP) – Perth Chapter. Lindsey was appointed to the Esther Foundation board as Treasurer in November 2019.

  • Lindsey has been working as a Consultant for a number of years in various roles with extensive experience across multiple industries and countries. Lindsey brings with her a deep knowledge in change, project and business Process Improvement, underpinned by financial and audit principles.

  • Lindsey is married, has two grown children and served in the Riverview Church Children’s Ministry for a number of years.

Board Member | Dr. Phil Ridden

Phil has a Doctorate in Education from the University of Western Australia and is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.  Phil joined the Board of the Esther Foundation in November 2019.

Board Member (Dr) Phil Ridden GAICD 

Dr Phil Ridden has been involved in education as teacher, curriculum writer and consultant, professional development consultant, deputy principal and principal, executive and non-executive member of boards. He has written a number of books and numerous articles and received several leadership awards.  

In semi-retirement, he continues to write, consult and present while he and his wife, Kylie, also provide foster care for infants with the Department of Communities.  Phil is a member of Trinity North Uniting Church and preaches and leads worship from time to time in several congregations. He is a member of the Boards of Kennedy Baptist College and Mandurah Baptist College and Convenor of their Joint Governance & HR Committee and Joint Futures Committee, and is also a Director of the Hearing Research & Support Foundation. 

Board Secretary | Sonia Newby

Sonia holds a Bachelor of Jurisprudence and a Bachelor of Law from the University of Western Australia. Sonia was appointed Board Secretary of the Esther Foundation board in October 2019.

With more than 20 years legal experience in Australia and South East Asia, Sonia has worked in senior positions in both the Commercial and Higher Education sectors in a range of legal matters in real estate, banking, finance and intellectual property.

Sonia is married to Jay and together they have two grown children. Sonia attends Lifestreams Christian Church in Como where she has served in the Children’s Ministry. Sonia has also served in various capacities in her children’s schools including the office of Chair of the Board of Oberthur Primary School in Bullcreek.

Chief Executive Officer | Anina Findling

Anina started to serve on NFP Boards in 2011 and has built up a wealth of knowledge and experience within the Church and Charity Sector. Anina joined the Esther Foundation Board in May 2019 and was then appointed as the Chief Executive Officer later that year.

Anina Findling holds an Hons Degree in Music Therapy, is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and has been working in various Financial Services and Management roles since 1996.

Specialising in NFP Governance and Strategic planning, she enjoys using her background in Banking, Management, Leadership, Business development, Customer Service, Training, Music and Prayer ministry to help Churches and Charities fulfil their unique purpose in the NFP sector.

Anina and her husband Harry have two adult children and immigrated to Australia from Canada in 2001.
